Cannes city council blocks airbnb project  Cannes City Council has just blocked four projects to transform residential buildings into furnished accommodation for tourism. While the city council supports the positive effects of tourist accommodation. On the other hand, massive commercial operations by acquisition of buildings, emptying them of their inhabitants, must be stopped "as they contribute to the the housing crisis" and "generate unfair competition for hotel owners" according to a statement from the council.
