The move marks a major step for Newey, who only joined the team in March this year.

Before arriving at Aston Martin, Newey spent two highly successful decades at Red Bull, where he played a key role in securing multiple championships alongside drivers Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.

His engineering and design expertise were central to the team’s dominance during several F1 eras.

Newey’s transition into the role of team principal signals Aston Martin’s ambition to strengthen its leadership structure ahead of the 2026 regulation changes.

The appointment also reflects the team’s confidence in his long-term vision and experience at the highest levels of the sport.
