Antibes Mayor Jean Leonetti has been named a Chevalier of the Légion d'Honneur in France's Bastille Day honours list.
Antibes mayor and former government minister Jean Leonetti has been appointed a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur as part of France’s Bastille Day honours list.

The annual civil honours promotion recognises 619 people for their contributions to public service, culture, science and civic life.
Among those also named Chevalier is Anne Murris, president of the Mémorial des Anges association, which supports victims of the 2016 Nice terror attack.
Other prominent recipients include actress Natalie Portman, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, filmmaker Xavier Giannoli, author Nathacha Appanah and theatre director Wajdi Mouawad.
The highest honours were awarded to Nobel Prize-winning physicist Serge Haroche and historian Michelle Perrot, while actor Pierre Arditi was promoted to the rank of Commandeur.
Former France footballers Marius Trésor and Frank Leboeuf were made Officiers.
This year's honours also saw an increase in awards made through France’s citizen nomination scheme, with 54 people recognised outside the traditional ministerial selection process.
A special promotion honoured 17 members of the Harki community in recognition of their service and historical legacy.
