AS Monaco Basket says it is considering its next legal steps after the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) confirmed that the club will not be authorised to compete in the Betclic Élite for the 2026/27 season.

The decision follows the FFBB Appeals Chamber's rejection of the club's appeal against an earlier ruling by the National Basketball League's financial watchdog, which had refused the reigning French champions' registration because of concerns over the club's financial situation and restructuring plans.

In a statement released over the weekend, AS Monaco Basket said it is now examining the possibility of referring the case to the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) in an effort to challenge the decision and secure permission to compete in next season's LNB competitions.

The club also thanked the institutions of the Principality of Monaco and everyone supporting its ongoing restructuring process.

"AS Monaco Basket wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the institutions of the Principality of Monaco, as well as to everyone who continues to support the club's restructuring process and its efforts to meet all the regulatory requirements set by the FFBB and the LNB," the statement said.
