According to newly released civil registry data, the most popular girls’ names were Bianca, Emma, Anna, Charlotte and Clara, many of which are strongly associated with the UK and have long featured in British name charts.
By contrast, boys’ names showed a clear Italian influence, with Matteo, Leonardo and Léo ranking just behind Louis, which retained first place.
The trend is thought to reflect Monaco’s international character and its location on the French-Italian border, as well as a preference for names that work easily across French, Italian and English.
Of the 732 babies born in 2025, the majority were to families living in neighbouring French communes, underlining the region’s cross-border cultural mix.
