Building industry in the Alpes Maritimes speaks of “housing crisis” - The president of “Agregats”, the Riviera’s association of architects, promoters and consultants, Geneviève Cabiaux, has spoken to local media of the difficulties in the building industry in the Alpes Maritimes. Architects, developers, consultants and companies joined together to create last July the “Agregats Association”. Today, the president accuses all city councils in the region of “abuse of power” in not wanting to issue building permits. The association, which is made up of 30 companies on the Riviera, accepts that “we don’t just want to build and build” but “there is currently a housing crisis which needs to be resolved”. Cabiaux adds that while city councils give permission for complexes such as “Open Sky” and “Ecotone” they are not prepared to deal with local housing planning in the area, which provides a lot of housing including social.
