The initiative is led by the Vivre avec une NMP association and aims to increase public understanding of blood cancers and the particular challenges faced by patients and their families.

Launched in 2022, “Septembre Rouge” also seeks to support research and highlight the importance of blood donation, while bringing greater visibility to the different forms of blood cancer.

According to Cannes City Council, blood cancers represent 12% of all new cancer cases diagnosed in France each year.

By lighting up two of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, Cannes is joining the awareness campaign and helping draw attention to diseases that affect thousands of people across France.

The illuminations will be visible for three consecutive evenings, from 17 to 19 September.
