Chaotic weather hits Nice and the Côte d’Azur: six alerts in place

Heavy rain has hit Nice and the Côte d’Azur since Tuesday evening, with record January rainfall across the Alpes-Maritimes. Antibes recorded up to 128.1 mm in 24 hours, Golfe-Juan 127.7 mm, and Nice 84.7 mm.

Heavy rain has battered Nice and the Côte d’Azur since Tuesday evening, with record January rainfall recorded across the Alpes-Maritimes.

Parts of Antibes saw 128.1 mm in 24 hours, Nice 84.7 mm, and Golfe-Juan 127.7 mm.Météo France has issued six alerts for the department, including avalanche, flood, storm, snow-ice, coastal flooding, and river flooding.

The storm caused a traffic accident on the A8 near Antibes, creating 15 km of congestion.

Ski resorts have also seen significant snowfall, with 37 cm reported at Isola.

The heavy rain is expected to ease by this afternoon, with sunny, mild conditions forecast for Nice on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, reaching up to 15°C.
