Located between the Mediterranean and the Estérel hills, the château is currently competing against Marseille’s Vieille Charité to represent the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in the national final.

Public voting is open until May 22.

Originally built in the 12th century on ancient Roman foundations, the château has a long and turbulent history, having been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries.

Its modern identity took shape in 1918, when American artists Henry and Marie Clews purchased the ruined fortress and transformed it into a unique neo-medieval residence filled with artistic and architectural details.

Today listed as a Historic Monument, the château is known for its sculpted façades, Mediterranean gardens and exceptional seafront setting.

Managed by the La Napoule Art Foundation, it now hosts exhibitions, artist residencies and cultural events throughout the year.

The winner of France’s Favourite Monument 2026 will be revealed later this year during a special programme broadcast on France 3.
