From its beginnings as Compagnie Monégasque de Banque, with just 13 employees, the bank has expanded its international operations and now serves clients from 116 nationalities.
From Monaco to international markets
Established half a century ago, CMB Monaco was created with the ambition of providing the Principality with its own private bank.
Over the years, its activities have evolved, with a growing focus on wealth management, investment and financing.
Today, the bank employs 275 people and remains active in Monaco's financial sector.
Its services include investment advice, wealth management and financing, catering to both local and international clients.
Technology and the future of private banking
At its anniversary event, CEO Francesco Grosoli outlined the bank's priorities for the years ahead, with technology playing an increasingly important role in its services.
CMB Monaco has introduced the integrated Avaloq and BlackRock Aladdin Wealth platform and developed Auto Commentary, a generative AI tool designed to turn complex portfolio analyses into personalised recommendations.
The bank describes itself as the first European private bank to implement this technology.
However, Grosoli stressed that digital innovation is intended to support, rather than replace, the relationship between clients and their bankers.
The bank's strategy combines technological investment with financial strength and its 275-strong workforce.
Its reported CET1 ratio of 27.9% is another part of that approach.
A continued commitment to Monaco
Beyond its international activities, CMB Monaco continues to emphasise its role in the Principality.
Its work with families and entrepreneurs, alongside financing for local projects, has been part of its business since its foundation.
As it enters its next chapter, the bank is seeking to build on its Monegasque roots while adapting to changes in wealth management and financial technology.
For CMB Monaco, the anniversary is not only an opportunity to look back at its development, but also to set out its ambitions for the future of private banking.
