Posting on Instagram, the 25-year-old shared two childhood photographs of herself with the music icon, including one in which she holds a homemade birthday cake bearing the message “Happy Birthday Dad”.
Alongside the images, she wrote: “Da big 79 today. Happy birthday pops, miss ya!” followed by a blue heart emoji.
The post prompted an outpouring of affection from fans, many of whom used the comments to remember Bowie and praise the bond visible in the photographs.
Bowie died in January 2016 aged 69, following a private battle with cancer, just two days after releasing his final album, Blackstar.
The record was widely hailed as a poignant and deliberate farewell, with its themes taking on deeper meaning after his death.
One of the most influential artists of his generation, Bowie continually reinvented himself throughout a career that spanned decades, from Ziggy Stardust to the Thin White Duke.
Lexi, who grew up largely out of the public eye, has in recent years begun sharing her own creative work, while seeking to forge an identity distinct from her father’s towering legacy.
