The 63-year-old actress chose a sculptural pearl-toned sequined dress designed by Simon Porte Jacquemus, combining classic Hollywood glamour with a modern silhouette.

The gown featured a structured corseted bodice and an elegant flowing train, creating one of the evening’s most talked-about fashion moments.

Completing the look with striking Chopard diamond jewellery and her hair swept over one shoulder, Moore embraced the timeless glamour that has become one of her signatures on recent red carpets.

The actress is attending this year’s Festival as part of the jury chaired by South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook, alongside names including Chloé Zhao and Stellan Skarsgård.

Earlier in the day, Moore also appeared at the Cannes photocall wearing another Jacquemus look inspired by Riviera style, before changing into the dramatic sequined gown for the evening ceremony.

Her Cannes return comes two years after the impact of The Substance, the body-horror film that marked a major career comeback for the actress and earned her widespread acclaim, including a Golden Globe award.

While many fans praised her elegant appearance online, some social media users also expressed concern over her very slim frame following photos and videos from the red carpet.

Despite the reactions, Moore’s appearance quickly became one of the defining fashion moments of the festival’s opening night.
