EasyJet cabin crew file strike notice covering August travel period

The SNPNC-FO, UNAC-CFE-CGC and UNPNC-CFDT unions announced the industrial action on Tuesday, citing what they describe as a continued deterioration in working conditions for France-based cabin crew.

They say concerns include unstable schedules, last-minute roster changes, demanding flight rotations and a lack of protective measures for staff.

Rather than announcing continuous strike action, the unions said they will reveal the main mobilisation dates 48 hours in advance, adding that the notice could still be withdrawn if management presents what they consider satisfactory solutions.

Nice is expected to be among the airports affected, as it is one of EasyJet's main French operating bases with numerous domestic and European routes during the busy summer season.

Union representatives have warned that disruption is likely, particularly over the first weekend of the strike period.

The dispute follows unsuccessful talks between management and employee representatives in late July.

Planned industrial action was initially suspended because of the major wildfires in Gironde but has now been reinstated.

In response, EasyJet said it was "deeply disappointed" by the strike notice, arguing that it had already proposed measures to address the unions' concerns.

The airline noted that further negotiations are scheduled for September and urged unions to withdraw what it described as a "counterproductive" action during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

EasyJet's previous strike notice over the Easter holiday period had only a limited impact on flights, but passengers travelling between 7 August and 2 September are being advised to check their flight status regularly as the situation develops.
