The 78-year-old musician has launched his own alcohol-free sparkling wine, is championing emerging artists and is preparing for a major headline performance at Brazil’s Rock in Rio festival.

Developed with his husband David Furnish, Elton John Zero Blanc de Blancs was born out of a simple desire to offer non-drinkers something celebratory at social occasions.

Sober since 1990, John said the drink was designed to deliver the “satisfaction and finish” of traditional sparkling wine, without alcohol.

It will be available in UK supermarkets this month.Speaking from their home in Windsor, John said his creative energy continues to be fuelled by people and music alike.

He remains an avid supporter of new artists, while also drawing inspiration from hosting friends and meeting people outside the music world.

Although he retired from full-scale touring in 2023, John is not finished with the stage.

After a recent chart-topping album with Brandi Carlile, he will return to live performance with a high-profile appearance at Rock in Rio later this year.

For now, however, his focus has shifted closer to home.

“It’s all about family and friends,” he said, describing a new chapter defined less by relentless schedules and more by presence, connection — and the occasional glass of fizz.
