Football fans gather in Nice
Around 300 people celebrated Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations win over Morocco in Nice, with a few detained after setting off banned fireworks.

Around 300 people gathered spontaneously in a festive atmosphere at Place Masséna in Nice on Sunday evening following Senegal’s Lions of Teranga victory over Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations.

During the gathering, a small number of individuals set off fireworks, which are banned, putting the safety of others at risk.
They were detained by police.
No further incidents were reported, and the crowd dispersed calmly by 1am.
The Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes reiterated that the ban on fireworks is in place to ensure public safety.
