Fourth heatwave of the summer set to bring soaring temperatures to the Côte d'Azur
A fourth heatwave is expected to hit France this week, bringing temperatures of up to 39°C inland across the Var and Alpes-Maritimes, along with exceptionally warm nights on the Côte d'Azur.
A fourth heatwave of the summer is set to affect much of France this week, with Météo-France forecasting another spell of extreme temperatures across the country, including the Var and Alpes-Maritimes.

The heatwave is expected to begin from Tuesday 28 July, with the hottest conditions shifting eastwards later in the week.
While western France could see temperatures climb to 40°C, inland areas of the Côte d'Azur are also expected to experience intense heat.
In the Var, temperatures could reach 39°C in central and upper parts of the department, while the Alpes-Maritimes hinterland, including Puget-Théniers and Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée, could see highs of 38°C.
Coastal areas will remain slightly cooler thanks to sea breezes, with daytime temperatures generally ranging between 30°C and 35°C.
In Nice, daytime highs are forecast to reach around 33°C, but the greatest challenge is expected to come overnight.
Météo-France is forecasting exceptionally warm nights, with temperatures remaining as high as 28°C on several nights, offering little relief from the daytime heat.
This will be France's fourth heatwave since May, as the country continues to experience an unusually hot summer.
Authorities are urging people to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during the hottest part of the day and take extra care of vulnerable people.
