France to see early spring heat after record rain

After more than a month of relentless rainfall, France will see a sharp rise in temperatures from Tuesday 24 February, with sunshine returning but flood risks and frost concerns lingering.

After 37 days of continuous rain, France is set for a warm spell from Tuesday 24 February, with temperatures reaching up to 25°C in the southwest.

The Azores high-pressure system will bring sunny skies, though rivers in some areas remain at risk from flooding. 

Experts warn that the unusual warmth, combined with saturated soils, could trigger early plant growth, making late frosts particularly dangerous.

A wetter front is expected towards the end of the week, but temperatures will stay above seasonal averages.
