Positioned in the direction of Aix-en-Provence, the fixed, double-faced radar flashes an average of 470 drivers per day, according to road safety data. It ranks ahead of speed cameras on the A1 near Paris and the N230 near Bordeaux.

Installed in its latest version in 2024, the camera sits on a downhill stretch where the speed limit drops unexpectedly from 110km/h to 90km/h, catching many motorists off guard. The device is equipped to measure speed, distinguish between cars and lorries, and identify individual lanes.

Small speeding offences, often less than 10km/h over the limit, account for the majority of fines. Overall, speed cameras generated around €889 million for the French state in 2024.
