French President Emmanuel Macron has addressed the nation on the war in Ukraine. Macron gave a televised speech on Wednesday evening  denouncing “the brutal attack launched by President Putin against Ukraine”. He said “France stands alongside Ukraine” adding “that everything had been done to try and avoid this conflict” but that the decision was made “alone by Vladimir Putin” and it echoes “revenge”. Macron went on to say that neither France, nor Europe nor NATO “wanted this war”. Macron claims to have chosen to stay in touch with President Putin. In particular to “prevent the spread of the conflict”. The Head is State promised that France would “take its share” faced with the influx of refugees in several European countries.
