Renowned cellist Gautier Capuçon is teaming up with the town of Saint-Tropez to launch a new classical music series in 2027, with three concerts planned at the Chapelle de la Miséricorde.

The 200-seat chapel will host performances by young international musicians supported by the Gautier Capuçon Foundation, which helps emerging virtuosos develop their careers.
The line-up will include French violinist Elise Bertrand, who was nominated as a “Revelation” at the 2024 Victoires de la Musique Classique, Japanese musician Rino Yoshimoto, who has performed at Carnegie Hall, and international competition winner Elias Moncado.
Capuçon said the idea was developed during a dinner with Saint-Tropez mayor Sylvie Siri and local cultural figures, with the aim of bringing classical music to a wider audience, particularly younger people.
He said he was prepared to “put his name behind” the project.
The foundation is now supporting its fifth group of young musicians, with 45 artists aged between 18 and 25 selected from around the world.
It has distributed around €1 million in scholarships through private sponsorship and organised more than 100 concerts.
The three Saint-Tropez performances will take place at 7pm on February 11, April 21 and May 11, 2027.
Tickets will cost between €10 and €20.The series forms part of the town’s “La Renaissance hors les murs” cultural programme while work continues on a new cultural venue.
