Giant origami sculptures transform Monte-Carlo for the summer
Giant origami birds and butterflies have transformed several of Monte-Carlo's iconic landmarks this summer as part of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer's new Glow Up Monte-Carlo campaign.
Visitors to Monaco this summer may notice something unusual above Casino Square, with giant origami birds and butterflies now decorating several of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer's most iconic locations.

The colourful installations are part of the resort's Glow Up Monte-Carlo campaign, which has returned for the 2026 spring and summer season following last year's giant flower displays.
Inspired by the traditional Japanese art of origami, the sculptures have been created to bring a fresh, artistic look to the Principality's famous landmarks.
The giant paper creations can be seen at the Casino de Monte-Carlo, Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo, Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, Monte-Carlo Beach and the Casino Café de Paris, as well as along Avenue des Beaux-Arts.
The project was designed by Christine Marchal, founder of the events agency Madame Ernest, and Céline Pagès, a Monaco-trained artist specialising in scenography.
The sculptures were handcrafted in France using weather-resistant fibre paper and hand-painted, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese woodblock prints.
The installations also take on a different appearance after dark, with their illuminated wings lighting up in soft colours.
The origami display forms part of a wider summer programme from Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, which also includes the return of seasonal pop-up experiences such as the Jardin Belle Époque by Perrier-Jouët at Hôtel Hermitage and the Las Brisas summer restaurant at Monte-Carlo Bay, along with live screenings of the FIFA World Cup at several venues across the resort.
