Hackers - According to the Directorate General of Public Finance hackers have hacked around 2,000 tax accounts of taxpayers. The hackers are believed to have amended tax returns adding credits and tax cuts to statements of their victims and replacing bank details. The hackers did not hack directly the site of the tax office, but the mailboxes of their victims. As the piracy involved only about 2,000 of the approximately 31 million online tax accounts, tax officials were able to quickly block affected accounts before calling victims by phone to reset their accounts.
