Canadian-American actress Catherine O’Hara, best known for her roles in Home Alone, Schitt’s Creek and the Beetlejuice films, has died aged 71.

She died on Friday at her home in Los Angeles following a brief illness, according to a statement from her agency.

O’Hara won widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Moira Rose in the hit comedy series Schitt’s Creek, earning both an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

She also starred as Kevin McCallister’s mother in the Home Alone films and reprised her role as Delia Deetz in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in 2024.

Tributes have poured in from co-stars and fellow actors, who praised her talent, warmth and distinctive comic voice.
