England vice-captain Jamie George says he has been encouraged by the squad’s response over the past week following their disappointing start to rugby union’s Six Nations campaign.

Steve Borthwick’s side had been on an unbeaten run of 12 matches before suffering back-to-back defeats in the Championship.

The losses marked a sharp contrast to their previous form and have put pressure on the team as the tournament continues.

Meanwhile, France remain on course for a Grand Slam in the Six Nations after defeating Italy 33-8.

The result keeps France’s perfect record intact so far in this year’s competition.
