In windy and tricky conditions on Court Rainier III, the two stars produced a high-level but sometimes error-filled battle.
The opening set remained tight throughout, eventually going to a tie-break where Sinner raised his level on serve and capitalised on a costly double fault from Alcaraz to take the lead after 74 minutes.
The Spaniard responded early in the second set, breaking to go ahead, but Sinner quickly regained control.
The Italian stayed solid from the baseline, applying constant pressure before breaking twice in quick succession to take a 5–3 lead and confidently serve out the match after 2 hours and 15 minutes.
This victory marks a major milestone for the 24-year-old, who secures his first Masters 1000 title on clay and completes a remarkable run after already winning Indian Wells and Miami.
He becomes the first player since Novak Djokovic in 2015 to win the first three Masters 1000 events of the season.
Sinner also joins Djokovic and Rafael Nadal as one of the few players to win four consecutive Masters 1000 titles, extending his impressive winning streak at this level.
“We came here just trying to get as many matches as possible,” Sinner said after the match.
“Winning a big title on clay means a lot to me, and getting back to No.1 is very special.”
Despite flashes of brilliance, defending champion Alcaraz struggled with consistency, particularly on serve, and was unable to maintain his early momentum.
With this win, Sinner confirms his dominance at the start of the 2026 season and reclaims the top spot in the rankings.
