January 1st - As with every first of the month changes will be introduced in France. From January 1st there will be a drop in revenue tax for some 17 million households, the end of housing tax by 2023 which will see 80% households completely exempt in 2020, there will be a slight increase in the minimum wage and a tax advantage for child minders and housekeepers.

Also single use plastic will be banned from January for tableware and toiletries. The food additive E171 will be banned from food and polluting vehicles will be taxed.

Finally new audiovisual regulations will see shorter adverts on French television but more of them and the price of tobacco will increase with an aim to reach 10 euros for a packet of cigarettes by November 2020.
