Former F1 driver Jean Alesi was unable to take the start in Sunday’s Series D race at the Historic Monaco Grand Prix, with his Ferrari 312 absent from the grid.

The race for 3-litre Formula One cars from 1966 to 1972 began without him, as pole-sitter Michael Lyons made a strong start in his Surtees TS9 to take an early lead. Several other cars also failed to start.

Earlier in the day, Series B delivered close competition, with Joseph Colasacco securing victory in a Ferrari 1512 after battling past two Lotus 21 cars. Mark Shaw and Stuart Hall completed the podium.
