The Sky Original film, which also stars Rebel Wilson and Danny Dyer, was shot in the town earlier this year.
Speaking to reporters in York, Sutherland said that “the people” were the highlight of his experience, describing locals as “so nice and welcoming”.
He added that he would “absolutely” return after forming friendships in the area during production.
In the film, Sutherland plays Bradley Mack, a washed-up Hollywood action star who unexpectedly becomes involved in a village’s eccentric pantomime production of Cinderella.
Filming took place in several picturesque parts of Knaresborough, including Castlegate, Riverside and Green Dragon Yard, with the town selected for its classic “chocolate-box” appearance.
Tinsel Town will be released on Sky Cinema this Friday.
Knaresborough’s Frazer Theatre is hosting an exclusive early screening on Tuesday, giving local residents a chance to see the film ahead of the national launch.
