The singer made the announcement just hours before taking to the stage at the Bell Centre on 6 April, explaining that her condition had worsened despite efforts to recover.
She said her doctor had strongly advised her to rest, adding that she did not feel able to deliver the level of performance her fans deserved.
“I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry,” she wrote in a message to fans, apologising to those who had planned to attend the show.
The cancelled performance was the third and final date of her Montreal stop as part of the Mayhem Ball Tour.
Gaga had already performed two shows in the city earlier in the week.
It remains unclear whether the concert will be rescheduled.
The singer is currently due to continue her tour with upcoming performances in the United States, before concluding the tour in New York later this month.
