Luxury Watch Thefts on the Côte D'azur
| Updated: 10 Feb 2026
Luxury watch thefts are a recurring problem on the Côte d'Azur, especially during the high tourist season. On the evening of July 13, three watches were stolen in Cannes: two Patek Philippe watches worth €100,000 each and a Richard Mille watch worth €200,000. While two suspects have been arrested, Mayor David Lisnard has renewed calls for more national police. Since mid-June, 11 similar incidents in the Cannes area have amounted to €1.43 million in stolen watches. The season began with a robbery of 83 luxury watches in Monaco, valued at over €4 million. In total, at least €5.83 million worth of luxury watches have been stolen on the Côte d'Azur in three months.
