Mayor praised by local residents - The mayor of the Cannet des Maures in the Var has won praise from local residents after successfully eradicating a dumping ground in the commune. Thanks to #MonMaire launched by franceinfo the site has been closed. Jean Luc Longour mayor since 2008 had been struggling for years with the authorities for closure of the site which caused “unbearable smells” for locals, who had nicknamed it “the wart”.
