Mild weather to continue despite weekend rain forecast

Rain is expected in western France over the weekend, but temperatures are set to remain above seasonal norms into next week.

Rain is forecast in western areas over the weekend, but mild conditions are expected to persist into next week.

Highs of 17C to 18C are forecast in northern regions in the coming days, with 20C to 22C possible in the south, though temperatures are likely to fall slightly over the weekend before stabilising.

Farmers have voiced concern about the risk of late spring frosts, as early budding triggered by the warmth could leave vineyards and fruit orchards vulnerable if colder weather returns.

While the record-breaking highs may ease, France appears set to remain milder than average in the short term.
