After a cold weekend, temperatures will increase by 5C to 7C in many areas from Monday, with highs of 10C to 12C across much of France and up to 16C in the south-west.

Despite a frosty start, Monday will already be warmer than average, though rain is expected north of the Loire, including Brittany, while the south stays largely dry.

Showery conditions will persist in the north on Tuesday, particularly near the English Channel, while the south sees further warming.

Unsettled weather spreads on Wednesday as rain moves from the south-west towards the north-east, before two separate weather systems bring widespread rainfall on Thursday, affecting both the Channel coast and the south-east.

By Friday, rain will cover most of the country, with prolonged wet conditions in the south-east and south-west and the possibility of snow in the Pyrénées at higher altitudes.

Despite the unsettled weather, temperatures are expected to remain above average throughout the week.
