Founded in 2009 by Éric and Martine Elena, Monaco Basket Association has grown into an important part of women’s sport in the Principality, with more than 150 registered players and opportunities for girls to begin playing from the age of five.

Ambitions continue to grow

After returning to Women’s League 2 (LF2) in 2025, the first team is now targeting further progress, with the long-term objective of reaching the Boulangère Wonderligue, France’s top women’s division, by 2028.

Éric Elena said the club was approaching the new campaign with “determination, high standards and confidence”, with the aim of building on its progress and securing a place among the leading clubs in French women’s basketball.

Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer has supported the club financially and logistically, including by providing access to its sports facilities for the past two years.

Its Chairman and CEO, Stéphane Valeri, said the two organisations were united by their Monegasque identity and shared values of commitment and collective excellence.

The number of Monegasque partner companies supporting the MBA has also doubled this season, rising from three to six.

Following last season’s experience in LF2 and the formation of a strengthened squad, Valeri said the club was not ruling out achieving its ambitions earlier than originally planned.

The MBA will play 13 home league games during the 2026–2027 season, split between the Gymnase de l’Annonciade and Salle Gaston Médecin.
