The change took place during the daily guard ceremony on 4 May, when the Prince’s Carabiniers exchanged their winter attire for lighter dress in line with the warmer season.

The event unfolded during the usual late-morning changing of the guard, a popular attraction for visitors.

The tradition dates back more than a century to the early guard units of the Principality, which introduced seasonal uniforms as part of official protocol.

It has since become a symbolic feature of Monaco’s ceremonial calendar.

Each day, crowds gather outside the palace to watch the precise military routine, which combines discipline with heritage.

The shift to summer uniforms offers a subtle visual reminder of the changing seasons while maintaining the formality of the ceremony.
