Monaco pays tribute to Josephine Baker - Monaco has paid tribute to Josephine Baker on the 50th anniversary of her death, with a ceremony on Saturday April 12th at the Monaco cemetery where she is buried.  Family, dignitaries, and fans gathered at her grave, where two portraits of her in military uniform and three flags symbolised her legacy. Her son, Luis Bouillon-Baker, honoured his mother’s contributions to the Resistance and her work for social justice. Prince Albert II and his family also paid respects, acknowledging the bond between Josephine Baker and Princess Grace. Baker, who faced hardship later in life, was supported by the Monegasque royal family, which helped her during a time of financial crisis. Baker's legacy as a civil rights advocate and trailblazer remains strong, with her family and admirers continuing to champion her fight against racism and inequality.
