Pogba, 33, injured his left thigh during Monaco’s first team training session at their pre-season camp in England on Tuesday.
However, the club had already decided to part ways with the 2018 World Cup winner before the latest setback.
The midfielder joined Monaco in June 2025 on a two-year deal but has made just six competitive appearances, totalling 115 minutes, all in Ligue 1.
Persistent fitness problems have limited his return to top-level football.
Monaco are expected to negotiate a financial settlement with Pogba and pay his remaining wages.
The agreement is expected to be reached before the transfer window closes on 1 September.
The latest injury is another setback for Pogba, who had hoped to complete his contract and revive his career on the Côte d’Azur.
