The decision was announced on Tuesday by Minister of State Christophe Mirmand, who has asked for regulatory changes to be prepared as quickly as possible to prohibit the use of any pyrotechnics in indoor venues across the Principality.

In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, the government mobilised its Technical Commission for Hygiene, Safety and Environmental Protection to carry out additional inspections and remind venue operators of strict fire safety and evacuation rules.

Officials said the move reflects a preventative approach focused on public safety and informed by the expertise of state technical services.

Many of Monaco’s major venues had already phased out pyrotechnics.

Société des Bains de Mer replaced sparklers with LED effects several years ago, with a single annual exception at the Salle des Étoiles requiring explicit government approval.

While no implementation date has yet been announced, the ban will formalise existing practices and introduce uniform safety standards across all enclosed public spaces.
