The festival, which runs from 12 to 16 June, will feature four official categories in 2026: Fiction, Major News and Current Affairs, Digital, and the Prince Rainier III Special Prize.
Additional awards will be presented by partner organisations including the Monégasque Red Cross and AMADE.
The most significant change affects the Major News and Current Affairs category, which will now prioritise in-depth, field-based investigative journalism.
The updated criteria emphasise first-hand reporting, direct observation and coverage of major societal, cultural and geopolitical issues.
The Digital category, introduced last year, returns for its second edition and is open to unscripted content created exclusively for YouTube.
Two awards will be presented: Best Original Digital Creation and Best Digital Documentary.
Entry to the competition is free and open to industry professionals worldwide.
Submissions close on 19 March, with the official selection announced in May and the awards ceremony taking place on 16 June.
