The 90-minute documentary, narrated in part by Brigitte Bardot herself, offers a more intimate portrait of the former actress.

It explores her family origins, her life after leaving cinema and her decades of commitment to animal protection.

The release is an important moment for Saint-Tropez, particularly after many locals were unable to attend the invitation-only preview held in September.

This time, the film will run for two weeks, with 14 screenings planned to give local residents far broader access.

The documentary was several years in the making and received support from the town as well as local patrons.

It has already been shown at multiple festivals in France and abroad.

Filmmakers say Bardot trusted the production team enough to meet them twice in Saint-Tropez during filming, contributing to what they describe as an emotional and honest portrayal.

Bardot will open nationwide on Wednesday, including in cinemas in Saint-Tropez, Cogolin and Sainte-Maxime.
