More than 2,000 drones lit up the night sky on Tuesday evening creating images of France, the city of Nice, and the words “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity”.
The emotional 15-minute display was created in collaboration with the city, authorities, and most importantly, families of the victims.
A particularly moving moment saw 86 beams of light rise into the sky, representing the 86 people who lost their lives on the Promenade des Anglais.
The lights joined the drones to form a giant heart before spreading into stars.
Members of the public described the show as “very impressive” and “very powerful”, saying it was a reminder of the lives lost while also reflecting the resilience of Nice.
The tribute ended with a message of remembrance and hope ten years after one of France’s darkest nights.
