Ciotti is set to meet Edgar Grospiron, president of the Olympic and Paralympic organising committee (COJOP), as discussions continue over the city’s potential role in hosting several ice sports events.
Nice is expected to stage disciplines such as figure skating, ice hockey, curling and short track, but questions remain over the choice of venues and infrastructure needed.
The mayor has reaffirmed his support for bringing the Games to Nice, while stressing the need to balance the project with local constraints.
He has notably ruled out plans that would see OGC Nice displaced from the Allianz Riviera stadium, while remaining open to the idea of building a new arena suited to Olympic requirements.
A decision on the final venue plans is expected by the end of April, with further technical and financial discussions scheduled in the coming days.
Elsewhere, other cities — including Lyon — have also expressed interest in hosting some of the events, adding further pressure to ongoing negotiations.
