More than 100 workers will take part in the operation, which will run continuously for 27 hours from just after midnight on Saturday until early Sunday morning.
Several stretches of railway line will be replaced during the works.
As a result, train services will be halted between Antibes and Monaco, Nice and Breil-sur-Roya, and Cannes and Grasse.
Services will also be disrupted between Les Arcs and Antibes, and between Monaco and Ventimiglia in Italy.
SNCF says the works have been scheduled to minimise disruption, preserving all services on Friday evening and throughout Sunday.
Passengers are being advised to check for alternative transport arrangements before travelling.
