The film took home four awards including Best Film – Comedy or Musical and Best Director, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro among the stars celebrated.
Timothée Chalamet, 30, won Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for the table tennis caper Marty Supreme, beating out heavyweights including DiCaprio and George Clooney.
In the drama categories, Irish actress Jessie Buckley was named Best Actress for Hamnet, which also scored a surprise win for Best Film – Drama, with director Chloe Zhao praised by producer Steven Spielberg as the only filmmaker capable of bringing Maggie O’Farrell’s story to life.
Other highlights included Wagner Moura winning Best Actor in a Drama for The Secret Agent, acknowledging the film’s exploration of generational trauma and values.
