Coastal areas, including Toulon, Hyères and Saint-Tropez, are forecast to reach between 33 and 35 degrees, while inland locations such as Brignoles and Barjols could see highs of 39 degrees.

Forecasters are also warning of localised thunderstorms across the northern half of the Var between early afternoon and late evening.

The coast is expected to stay mainly dry, although some cloud is likely.

Residents and visitors are being urged to stay hydrated, avoid the hottest part of the day and keep an eye on the latest weather warnings.
