According to Météo-France, inland areas of the Var could see highs of 40°C to 41°C, particularly around Le Luc, Draguignan and Montfort-sur-Argens, while coastal areas are forecast to reach up to 36°C.
In the Alpes-Maritimes, temperatures are expected to range between 31°C and 37°C.
The nights will also remain unusually warm, with minimum temperatures staying between 21°C and 26°C along much of the Riviera, offering little relief from the daytime heat.
The Alpes-Maritimes and Var are among 21 French departments currently under an orange heatwave warning, alongside Vaucluse, the Alps, Corsica and several central and eastern regions.
The alert is expected to remain in force until at least 2 August, with forecasters saying it could continue into next week.
Health authorities are urging people to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during the hottest hours of the day and check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours and relatives.
They also remind anyone experiencing symptoms of heatstroke, such as confusion, a body temperature above 40°C or hot, dry skin, to seek emergency medical assistance immediately.
