Titled La Caverne du Pont Neuf, the temporary installation has been designed by contemporary urban artist JR.

Visitors will be able to walk through a tunnel of jagged faux rocks reaching 18 metres high as they cross the Seine River, stretching 120 metres from the Quai de la Mégisserie to Place du Pont Neuf.

The installation pays tribute to Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s 1985 work The Pont Neuf Wrapped and features optical illusions, augmented reality, and immersive music composed by Thomas Bangalter.

Although it will appear as solid limestone, the structure is actually made from air, with 80 arches covered in printed canvas.

The free exhibition will be open to the public from June 6th to 28th.

It promises to offer Parisians and visitors alike a chance to experience one of the city’s most iconic landmarks like never before.
