Pebble artwork on Nice seafront carries message of peace

A striking artwork made entirely from pebbles has been drawing attention on Nice's Promenade des Anglais.

Passers-by have interpreted it as a tribute to the victims of the 2016 Bastille Day attack.
Created by artist Dahmane Zitouni, the installation features messages of peace written in several languages.
While acknowledging that the piece is an indirect tribute to those killed in the attack, Zitouni says its purpose is broader: to promote peace and unity in the face of violence and terrorism.
The artist, who has lived in Nice for four years and is known for his temporary pebble creations, says he hopes the work encourages dialogue between people of different faiths and backgrounds.
The installation has attracted many visitors, particularly following the recent 10th anniversary commemorations of the attack.
