Penaud facing shock France omission for Six Nations squad

France’s record try-scorer Damian Penaud looks set to be left out of the national squad for rugby union’s Six Nations in what would be a major surprise selection call.

The shock move is being linked to head coach Fabien Galthié, who appears ready to make big changes ahead of the tournament.

Centre Gaël Fickou is also expected to be dropped, adding to the sense that France could be heading into the Six Nations with a significantly reshaped squad.

If confirmed, the omissions would remove two of the team’s most experienced and high-profile players from the group, and would be one of the most talked-about selection decisions of the build-up to the competition.
