Peter Jackson to receive honorary Palme d’Or at Cannes

New Zealand director Peter Jackson will be honoured with an Honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

New Zealand director Peter Jackson, famed for The Lord of the Rings, is set to receive an Honorary Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, which runs from 12 to 23 May.

Festival organisers say the award recognises a career that blends Hollywood blockbusters with auteur cinema.

Jackson called it “one of the greatest moments” of his career.

Last year, the honour went to actor Robert De Niro.
